I met Julie when we both went to work at the Civil Service Board in St John's Street in the mid 70's. We were very much the youngest in a rather old and staid environment. We shared our lunchtimes in the summer, down at La Vallette Bathing Places, a regular haunt of Julie's. On this particular occasion it was a really hot day and we had both forgotten our bathers. This was not going to deter us! We plunged into the freezing pool in our bra and pants. Of course in an hour's lunch hour we did not have time to dry off in the sun and we didn't have towels. We pulled our summer dresses over our soaked underwear and went back to work both sporting sopping wet "seats" to our dresses. We sat on various chairs throughout the afternoon. Everyone who sat down after us got wet bottoms and didn't realise why - they all sidled around the office trying to keep their bottoms facing the walls and Julie and I were wetting ourselves laughing! I lost you for a few years Julie in the whirlwind of marrying and bringing up our families and then in the last 4 years we got back together again after all those years. It was not long enough Julie and I so miss chatting to you here on Facebook. We never did get that last coffee. Rest in Peace beautiful friend x
